Embryolisse Lait Crème Sensitive
The new kid on the block, Lait Crème Sensitive, is the sister product to the classic Lait Crème Concentré. The cream is reformulated for adults with sensitive and reactive skin but also works for children and babies.
The hypoallergenic formula is fragrance-free but embodies the same “core four” ingredients as its predecessor. The texture is a tad smoother and creamier but melts into the skin, similar to the Crème Concentré. My skin was left soft and supple, and the product made for a great makeup base.

Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré can be used as a cleanser, makeup remover, beauty mask, makeup base, after-sun moisturizer, and aftershave care. With so many different uses, you may be wondering what ingredients are found in this formula. You may be surprised to find out that the ingredients in Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré are actually quite simple. Below we’ll discuss the key ingredients in this formula and how they may benefit your skin.
After water, the highest concentration ingredient in Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré is paraffinum liquidum, also known as liquid paraffin. Liquid paraffin can be classified as an occlusive emollient because it forms a film on the skin that acts as a water resistant barrier. According to the journal Clinical Medicine and Research, the film also helps to prevent evaporation of the skin’s natural moisture. Over time, this increases skin hydration by causing buildup of water in the stratum corneum (the uppermost layer of skin). While all skin types can benefit from emollients like liquid paraffin, emollients are especially helpful for those who have dry, rough, and/or flaky skin.
In addition to liquid paraffin, the Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré formula contains several more emollients, including stearic acid, palmitic acid, beeswax, and shea butter. Both stearic acid and palmitic acid are saturated fatty acids. This means that the carbon chains of these fatty acids do not contain any double bonds, and the carbons are “saturated” with hydrogen atoms (hence the name). Saturated fatty acids are much more stable than unsaturated fatty acids. Both stearic acid and palmitic acid can function as surfactants, meaning they help to wash away excess oil and dirt from the skin. They can also function as emollients, helping to improve the skin’s barrier function and protecting against water loss.
Beeswax is another emollient in the Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré formula. Beeswax, also known as cera alba, is a natural wax produced by honeybees in the cell walls of honeycombs. There are about 300 compounds found in beeswax, including alkanes, acids, esters, polyesters, and hydroxy esters. Beeswax is also a humectant moisturizer. Humectants have a molecular structure with several hydrophilic (water loving) groups, which allows them to attract and retain the moisture in the air nearby via absorption. Humectants improve moisture retention and may also help other topical skin care ingredients to perform better. Lastly, beeswax acts as an emollient and occlusive agent. It forms a soft, protective barrier on the surface of skin, which helps to prevent evaporation of the skin’s natural moisture.
