Egipski cudowny krem ratunek dla twarzy

What’s In It: Six simple ingredients

The Egyptian Magic Cream is made up of six simple ingredients: Olive oil, beeswax, honey, bee pollen, royal jelly (the food source given to the queen bee), and propolis extract (a compound produced by bees with antiseptic qualities). This is the aforementioned secret formula allegedly used by ancient Egyptian pharaohs to soothe and nourish the skin, and still hold true today. According to Dr. Rabach, the best skin cream products have antioxidants like vitamins C and E, which in this formula would come from the bee pollen and olive oil, respectively. Olive oil and beeswax are highly moisturizing, whereas the bee pollen, royal jelly, and propolis are rich in nutrients and have an antiseptic/anti-inflammatory effect on the skin. There’s not a lot of actual science to back up the formulation, but the raving reviews are hard to ignore.

As a beauty journalist, I love a good brand story. But over the course of my career, few have struck me quite like that of Egyptian Magic.

Egyptian Magic is one of those products in a league of its own, but there’s certainly other wonder balms out there.

Lanolips 101 Ointment: Made on a base of medical grade lanolin (the oil found in sheep’s wool), this rich ointment will flood the skin with fatty acids and proper moisture, soothing cracks, cuts, and chapped skin. It’s great as a lip balm, but can be used all over the body.

Dr. Rogers Restore Healing Balm: This superlative balm may have been created to heal sensitive skin post-surgical procedure, but its effects can be attained sans prescription. The ointment soothes the skin for hours thanks to a powerful blend of glycerin, castor oil, and castor wax.

Yes, Egyptian Magic Cream is safe to use on the face and has no sensitizing or irritating ingredients. However, its rich consistency may be too heavy for oily skin types and could cause breakouts for oily or acne-prone skin.

Egyptian Magic Cream is not a bleaching cream. It is a multi-purpose ointment for nourishing and healing the skin.

Egyptian Magic cream is an all-purpose salve used to moisturize, condition, and nourish the skin while healing cuts or scrapes and relieving symptoms of eczema and psoriasis.

Dłonie i ciało

Ogrzewam go we wnętrzu rąk, a odżywcze składniki kremu rozpuszczają się do postaci delikatnego olejku. Wykonuję nim delikatny masaż i wkładam bawełniane rękawiczki.

Wygładza, odżywia, regeneruje i wyrównuje powierzchnię ust.

What Are The Key Ingredients in Egyptian Magic Cream?

Like we mentioned above, the Egyptian Magic formula only contains olive oil, beeswax, honey, bee pollen, royal jelly, and bee propolis. So are these ingredients really as healing as the brand claims they are? Below we’ll discuss the research that supports the purported benefits of these ingredients.

The Egyptian Magic formula does not contain any water. Instead, the base of this cream is olive oil. Olive oil contains several different fatty acids, but is mostly composed of oleic acid (65 to 85%). Oleic acid is an omega-9 monounsaturated fatty that functions as a penetration enhancer. A publication in the Journal of Controlled Release states, “Penetration enhancers such as oleic acid (OA), which increase skin permeability, appear to act selectively on the extracellular lipids representing the principal regulatory channel for the penetration of small molecules.” This is not necessarily a bad thing, in fact, using oils high in oleic acid can help other beneficial ingredients penetrate into the skin. Plus, it is quickly absorbed and leaves no greasy feeling.

The next key ingredient in Egyptian Magic cream is beeswax, a natural wax produced by honeybees in the cell walls of honeycombs. There are about 300 compounds found in beeswax, including alkanes, acids, esters, polyesters, and hydroxy esters. The components that make up beeswax have been shown to relieve inflammation, as well as have antimicrobial and regenerative effects.

Beeswax is also a humectant moisturizer. Humectants have a molecular structure with several hydrophilic (water loving) groups, which allows them to attract and retain the moisture in the air nearby via absorption. Lastly, beeswax acts as an emollient and occlusive agent. It forms a soft, protective barrier on the surface of skin, which helps to prevent evaporation of the skin’s natural moisture. Over time, this increases skin hydration by causing buildup of water in the stratum corneum (the uppermost layer of skin). The barrier also protects the skin from environmental factors that may irritate the skin. Therefore, the use of beeswax in the Egyptian Magic cream should help to keep the skin moisturized and soft.

As a beauty journalist, I love a good brand story. But over the course of my career, few have struck me quite like that of Egyptian Magic. According to the brand, it all started in 1986 at a Chicago diner, when LordPharaoh ImHotepAmonRa (then known as Westley Howard) was approached by a stranger. While the details of his identity were vague, the stranger introduced himself as Dr. Imas and told ImHotepAmonRa that he had been “moved by the spirit” to reveal something to him. The something, as it turned out, was the recipe for Egyptian Magic, a do-it-all skin cream Imas claimed was the same formula used in ancient Egyptian tombs.

In 1991 ImHotepAmonRa launched the cream to the world, and soon, it went gangbusters. Nowadays, it’s available in drugstores and pharmacies world over, lauded for its nourishing properties and varying uses.

But legends aside, does it really work? Or better said, is it worth the hype? There’s only one way to find out. Keep reading for my review along with expert insight from board-certified dermatologist Morgan Rabach, MD.
