A víz. A leggyakoribb kozmetikai összetevő, általában az INCI listák első helyén szerepel, vagyis a legtöbb krém fő összetevője. Oldóanyag a többi összetevő számára, és hidratáló hatású (ha már benne van a bőrben, kívülről szárító). Vízmegkötő. Állati és növényi zsírokban egyaránt megtalálható, bőrazonos (skin-identical, azaz a mi bőrünkben is megtalálható) anyag. Kivonható természetes anyagokból, de előállítható mesterségesen is. Rendkívül jó vízmegkötő, a bőrön használva képes kivonni a vizet a bőr alsó rétegeiből, növelve ezzel a bőr felszíni rétegében található vízmennyiséget. A túl sok (vagy tömény) glicerin azonban szárító hatású lehet, mivel a bőr felső rétegeiből a víz könnyen elpárolog (transepidermal water loss). Éppen ezért a glicerint (és más vízmegkötő anyagokat is) mindig más lágyító (emolliens) anyagokkal kell kombinálni.
A jojobaolaj észtereinek komplex keveréke, wax szerű anyag. Kiváló bőrpuhító (emollient) és elzáró (occlusive) anyag, különösen ha glicerinnel van kombinálva. A jojoba észterekből jojoba "gyöngyöcskéket" (jojoba beads) is készítenek, melyet bőrradírokban használnak fizikai dörzsölő anyagként.
A pantoténsavnak (B5 vitamin) kémiai szerkezetét tekintve az alkoholhoz hasonló formája, B5 provitamin (a szervezet képes B5 vitaminná alakítani). A kozmetikai iparban vízmegkötő (humectant), pőrpuhító (emollient) és nyugtató összetevőként használatos. Allantionnal keverve enyhe égési sérülésre, nap által okozott leégés kezelésére is használják.

The Feel: Lightweight and deeply nourishing
It takes a bit of manipulation to work the product into the under-eye area, which speaks to the rich formula. There’s also a pleasantly surprising cooling sensation after application, which I attribute to the ginseng and vitamin C. I didn’t necessarily feel a “tightening” of the under-eye area, but I will say that I believe the coffee beans and niacinamide, both known for their anti-inflammatory properties, worked their collective wonders to make my eyes feel happier. And more importantly, I think they looked happier, as in a bit brighter, after about two weeks of using the product.
The Origins GinZing Eye Cream is named after its hero ingredient panax ginseng, which works together with caffeine to boost the under-eye area's natural energy, restoring radiance and helping you to look less tired. Vitamin C plays a major role in the formula as well, as its brightening properties help reduce the appearance of dark circles. Topping off the powerhouse group, niacinamide both brightens and energizes to make the result that much more impressive.
